A new procedure is available to individuals and businesses whose bank accounts have been seized due to overdue tax liabilities.
Subject to specific conditions, a debtor may request the lifting of the seizure, provided that they:
- pay 25% of the debt in respect of which the seizure was imposed
- settle the remaining amount through an approved instalment arrangement or obtain a lawful suspension of payment and
- settle any other overdue liabilities owed to the Tax Administration.
The application is submitted electronically through the “My Requests” service on the myAADE platform and must include full details of the debtor, the relevant bank and the seizure orders concerned.
Particular caution is required, as this relief may be granted only once per debtor. In addition, payment of 25% alone is not sufficient without a prior review of the debtor’s overall tax position.
Our law firm assists clients with assessing eligibility, arranging the settlement of outstanding liabilities, and preparing and submitting the application for the lifting of the seizure.
